Andrea Bell

Born in Winnipeg, Andrea Bell holds Bachelor degrees in both Music and Education from the University of Manitoba. She completed a Master of Music in cello performance from the University of British Columbia where she was the winner of the concerto competition. Andrea is in demand as a cellist and often performs with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. She is the Manager and cellist of the Rembrandt String Quartet. A passionate music educator, Ms. Bell has taught the String Orchestra at Westgate Mennonite Collegiate since 2000, and maintains a cello teaching studio of over 25 students. Andrea is the Director of the Summer Chamber Music Camp at University of Manitoba and has conducted the Winnipeg Youth Concert Orchestra since 1997.

Daniel Scholz

Daniel Scholz is the Principal violist of both the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. An active chamber musician, Mr. Scholz is a member of The Winnipeg Chamber Music Society and regularly performs with Canada's finest musicians. As a soloist Daniel has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, the Musikbarock Ensemble, the Okanagan Symphony, and the Vancouver Chamber Players. Highly sought after as a teacher, Mr. Scholz has students at the University of Manitoba, Brandon University, and the Canadian Mennonite University. He has also been invited to perform and teach at festivals across the country including the Centara New Music Festival, the University of Manitoba Summer Chamber Music Program, the Groundswell and Virtuosi series in Winnipeg, the Scotia Festival of Music in Halifax, the University of Regina Summer Chamber Music Workshop, The Morningside Music Bridge in Calgary and at the Courtenay Music Centre on Vancouver Island. Mr. Scholz has commissioned new works by Bramwell Tovey, David Scott, T. Patrick Carrabre and Jim Hiscott. Mr. Scholz is very pleased to have been appointed as conductor of the Winnipeg Youth Symphony. Mr. Scholz plays a viola designed by Gerald Stanick and made by Alan Balmforth of Seattle.

Karin Klassen

Karin Klassen, a native of Winnipeg, is both a violinist and a music educator.
As a violinist, she played with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for eighteen years. Now she plays the violin as a freelance musician for orchestra or ensemble performances. She is a member of the Allegro String Quartet.
As a music educator, Karin currently teaches elementary music in the Pembina Trails School Division. In summer, she serves on the faculty of the International Music Camp as violin instructor to students and adults. Karin also adjudicates at festival and scholarship competitions throughout Manitoba. She was fortunate to be violin instructor, orchestra conductor, and adjudicator at the Cantai Music Festival in Taiwan during the summer of 2002. Now she is happy to be part of the Winnipeg Youth Orchestras organization, conducting the Youth Strings Orchestra (formerly known as the Junior Strings).
